В отличие от первой части, в которой основное внимание уделялось детективной работе, сиквел меняет направление и становится полноценным survival horror с ограниченными ресурсами, в котором акцент делается на боевые действия, тщательное управление инвентарём и исследование окружающего мира.

Вы будете играть за Кальвина Рафферти, оккультиста и авантюриста, путешествующего по Аркхэму 1920-х годов в полуоткрытом мире. Действие игры разворачивается в городе, полностью затопленном сверхъестественным наводнением. В роли Кальвина вы будете пытаться спасти свою девушку, душа которой оказалась запертой в Стране Снов после неудачного ритуала.

Игра сохраняет классическую механику расследований из первой части, но она стала полностью опциональной. Решение головоломок и поиск улик будут приносить знания о вселенной игры, открывать скрытые маршруты и разблокировать улучшения оружия, а не продвигать развитие основного сюжета.

Компания Frogwares сообщила, что на поздней стадии разработки было принято решение перевести весь проект на Unreal Engine 5.8, чтобы обеспечить лучшую оптимизацию и повышение производительности при запуске. Это значительно улучшит игровой опыт по сравнению с первой частью игры.

Pretty curious about how well it will run with Unreal Engine 5.8. I believe this will be the first "big" game to release that uses it, and I really hope the performance gains are good enough to make more devs upgrade their other Unreal 5 games.

La direction prise par The Sinking City 2 me plaît beaucoup. L'ambiance lovecraftienne reste l'un de ses plus gros atouts, et le virage vers un survival horror plus marqué semble cohérent.
